Good Energy for Hawaii

The Hawaii Gas Kokua Giving Program is a charitable contributions program funded annually based on the profitable business activity of Hawaii Gas. We are grateful for the opportunity to give to organizations that do essential work across Hawaii.

The Hawaii Gas Kokua Giving Program’s objective is to improve the quality of life in communities where Hawaii Gas operate and where our employees are active. Within these areas our priorities are to:

  • Support organizations and projects that address significant and/or high priority community needs.
  • Have a connection to Hawaii Gas’ business activity and/or employees.
  • Have the proven support of the community in which the organization serves.


Basic guidelines of any applicant

  • Applicant must be a 501 (c)(3) Charitable Organization.
  • Generally, only one application will be considered each calendar year from an organization.
  • Donations will not be made to benefit individuals, or for religious or political causes. Additionally, organizations that discriminate for any reason including but not limited to race, color, religion, ancestry, disability, sexual orientation or gender.
  • The following are not generally supported: individuals, labor organizations, requests to support annual operating expenses, endorsements, seminars, reunions, travel costs and golf fundraisers, and national and international organizations that operate outside the communities served.
  • Multi-year commitments and those over $20,000 are considered in very limited circumstances.
  • Endowments are generally not funded.

Timing & Notification

  1. Please submit your request at least 60 days prior to your event or deadline.
  2. Decisions are made on odd-numbered months then communicated in writing, generally by the end of following month.
  3. If selected to receive funds, it will be sent via check within a few weeks of award.
