Hawaii Gas Adds Three New Propane Cylinder Exchange Locations on Oahu

Exchange program offers new lightweight propane cylinders

HONOLULU – Hawaii Gas announced today that it has added three new locations to its propane cylinder exchange program on O‘ahu. The new PropaneXchange locations include:

Sand Island 76
165 Sand Island Access Rd.
Honolulu, HI 96819

Aina Haina 76
830 W. Hind Dr.
Honolulu, HI 96821

Yamashiro’s Building Supply
45-552 Kamehameha Hwy.
Kāne‘ohe, HI 96744

The additional locations provide greater convenience for customers who live in different parts of the island and augment Hawaii Gas’ two existing PropaneXchange locations at the 76 gas stations in Wahiawa and Enchanted Lake.

The PropaneXchange program has also introduced a new type of cylinder that is 50 percent lighter than steel and features a see-through design that allows customers to know exactly how much propane is left in the tank. The cylinders are made of a strong, non-corrosive composite material, and each tank is thoroughly inspected by an energy professional before and after every exchange.

O‘ahu residents who have steel propane cylinders in undamaged condition can trade in their tanks for the lighter weight composite cylinders at any PropaneXchange location at no additional cost for the tank.
