Appliance – Appliances in Bathrooms and Bedrooms

(NFPA 54, 10.1.2*)

Warm air furnaces and water heaters shall not be installed as follows:

A. In any room used, or designed to be used, as a bedroom, bathroom, closet, or in any confined space with access only through such space
EXCEPTION: Direct vent appliances and enclosed furnaces. Direct vent heaters with sealed combustion chambers may be installed in bathrooms or bedrooms

B. Vented room heaters may be installed in bathrooms and bedrooms provided combustion air is adequate

NOTE: Gas-burning appliances shall not be installed in a clothes closet.
