Update as of March 2024:
At Hawai`i Gas, we strive to provide our customers and communities with excellent service and safe, reliable energy solutions, while doing our best to mitigate rising costs and continuing to invest in our systems, infrastructure, security of supply, and clean energy innovation. Like many other local businesses, we have been impacted by market forces resulting in higher operational costs, making it necessary to increase non-utility propane pricing and charges for certain non-utility customers. We have held back any cost increases over the past two years, as we continued to look for ways to mitigate these higher operational costs internally. At this point, we are no longer able to absorb these higher operational costs.

Beginning April 1, 2024, residential non-utility propane customers and select commercial non-utility propane customers were subject to increased propane pricing and monthly customer charges. This price increase does not affect Hawai’i Gas utility customers.

Residential customers: Effective April 1, 2024, propane prices will increase by $0.75 per gallon (10-12% depending on location and usage) for deliveries made starting April 1, 2024. Monthly Customer Charges for all non-utility propane customers will be going up 20%. For the typical residential customer, that equates to an increase of $2.10 per month.

Commercial customers: Effective April 1, 2024, a propane price increase will be implemented for many non-utility commercial customers. Monthly Customer Charges for all commercial non-utility propane customers will increase 20%.‍

Please contact your Account Executive or local Hawai’i Gas Customer Service team for additional information. We understand that in many cases, this will be a substantial increase. The decision to adjust our prices was made after carefully weighing all options, and after having absorbed the cost of increased operations for the past several years. We continue to prioritize controlling costs and operational efficiency, while monitoring and managing the cost of our supply.
